What’s better than a green beer on St Patrick’s Day? How about green beer the other 364 days of the year!

Beer has been going green since Anheuser-Busch started recycling their leftover grain and using it for cattle feed back in 1899. It’s a process that continues at many breweries today. But, some brewmasters are taking the concept of environmental stewardship even farther with sustainable practices that reduce waste, increase efficiency, and overall produce a tasty brew that is just a deeper shade of green. Relax with a green beer, and you truly can drink responsibly.(...)
Read the rest of Green Beer Comes in Many Shades

According to ALighterFootprint.com, Americans send 3,000 tons of paper towels to landfills each day. We really need a greener solution. Some folks opt for sponges or dish cloths that, while fine for specific tasks, doesn’t completely fill my need for paper towels. Sponges are too small to absorb large spills, and dish cloths take so long to dry that it seems like I always have a sink full of wet rags.

Skoy is out solve all of these problems.

One hundred percent biodegradable, completely natural and able to absorb 15 times it own weight, Skoy is an eco-friendly alternative to paper towels. In fact, I like Skoy so much that I’d even venture to say they’re better than paper towels. But more on that later.

First the facts…

One Skoy Cloth can keep 15 rolls of paper towels out of the landfills. That’s enough to reach to the top of Disneyland’s Matterhorn Mountain and back nearly 6 times. Plus when you’re done with it, you can toss your Skoy into the compost bin instead of the trash.

Unlike a sponge, Skoy dries quickly so it’s less prone to bacteria than other cleaning tools. It’s also dishwasher and microwave safe. Every few days just throw your cloth in with the dishes to keep it germ-free.

Skoy is non-toxic and chlorine-free. That doesn’t mean this cleaning cloth is bland. The company uses water-based inks to imprint bright designs for those that prefer a splash of color. Me? I’m all about the natural look.

These facts are what led me to give Skoy a try. Now, that I’m using them, I may never go back to regular paper towels again. These green cleaning cloths are so much better than paper towels.

The 7×7-inch cloths feel just like a large wad of paper toweling, but they absorb so much more. Skoy just plain feels good to clean with — strong, absorbent and a good fit for my hand.

I’ve been using my Skoy cloth for a couple of weeks and can attest to the cleaning cloth’s durability. It’s held up admirably through a variety of kitchen duties — counters, stove tops, dishes and even my floors have all received the Skoy treatment.

I haven’t been able to test out the composting claims yet. According to the company’s website, “After an independent composting test, SKOY cloth broke down completely within 5 weeks.” Not too shabby and I’m eager to find out. …Though, not so eager that I’m actually willing to dispose of Skoy cloth before I have to.

The overall verdict on Skoy is two thumbs up! If your family replaces just one roll of paper towels per week with a paper-towel alternative such as Skoy, you could save more than $100 per year. Not to mention the environmental benefits of making greener choices in your cleaning routine.

You can buy Skoy cloths using Paypal at www.skoycloth.com or from Amazon.
